Here’s the biggest mistake sellers make and how to avoid it.
By far, the number one mistake I see sellers make is overinvesting in financial upgrades they don’t need.
Why is this a mistake? For starters, we are in a great market for sellers. This means you don’t have to bend over backward to sell your home. This isn’t to say you shouldn’t upgrade your home; just keep it cheap.
Some great ways to upgrade your home without breaking the bank include doing a fresh coat of paint or staining your deck. These upgrades increase your curb appeal at a reasonable price.
If you insist on doing upgrades like new countertops, I encourage you to at least enjoy them for a few years before selling. If you’re making a ton of upgrades just to sell your home in this market, you could be making a mistake.
